Overview

Staff Accountant - Gardiner, ME

Responsibilities

  • Reconciliation of general ledger accounts, research and resolve routine exceptions independently
  • Reconciliation of bank statements monthly and record necessary journal entries
  • Review general ledge transactions for accuracy and investigate abnormalities
  • Update and maintain of the fixed assets sub-ledger
  • Job Cost analysis and monthly work-in-process schedule preparation
  • Update and maintain Equipment/Fleet and other costed elements within Sage 300
  • Assist with preparation of annual audit and income tax schedules and review
  • Sales/Use tax maintenance and filings
  • Miscellaneous jurisdiction and federal registrations, reporting, and filings
  • Ad-hoc report preparation and analysis as need to meet the needs of management
  • Compilation and review of financial statements and other weekly/monthly reports
  • Cost accounting analysis
  • Assist and support all accounting related disciplines activities including: A/P, A/R and Job Costing
  • Interact harmoniously and effectively with others, focusing upon the achievement of Company goals and objectives through a commitment to teamwork
  • All other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA or BS), preferably in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in an accrual accounting environment, previous exposure to construction accounting a plus
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Outlook with an emphasis on Excel
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented, with a demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Must be able to deal with difficult, sensitive and confidential issues;
  • Any experience in the following areas is a plus; Sage 300 software, contract accounting, fixed assets/capex., sales/use tax, job costing/project accounting, corporate taxes   



Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a regular PC workstation. Lifting requirements include periodically lifting up to 10 lbs. (normal office materials, and paperwork).
