Title:                   Human Resources Business Partner

Reports to:        Director, Human Resources

Primary Function

As a strategic partner, the HR Business Partner (HRBP) will align with leaders in their designated divisions/departments to enable the successful performance of employees, leaders, and the business.  The HRBP serves as a consultant to management on Human Resources related issues and proactively assesses and anticipates people related needs. 


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

  • Work closely with the assigned management team to understand business issues and opportunities and assist them in developing HR initiatives as a strategic and tactical response to those needs.  Participate in weekly meetings with respective division/departments.
  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to leaders (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Enhance employee and management performance by identifying training and development needs; Partner with OD&T in the development of employees, and provide support for our Leadership Development programs.
  • Partner with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Develop action steps to improve their assigned division/departments.
  • Maintain and enhance a productive work environment by resolving conflicts; coaching management on effective management and techniques, and maintaining open communication with employees and managers. 
  • Work collaboratively with our Recruiter, conduct strategic staffing initiatives for assigned divisions/departments by identifying sources of applicants; conduct and analyze exit interviews; interview candidates, coach managers on candidate interviewing and selection;
  • Develop and/or strengthen High School and College/University relationships as a source of recruiting and building a pipeline of great talent. 
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation.
  • Develop offer letters for new hires, promotions and transfers, and support the successful onboarding of new hires into our business. 
  • Working with leaders and HR Team, implement tools and processes designed to improve the organizations overall effectiveness; change management initiatives, and performance management. 
  • Oversee the management and development of assigned HR staff and identify opportunities to expand and develop staff members’ core competencies through education, training and assignment of projects that support career growth in all areas of HR. 
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing results in a collaborative and supportive manner. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 



  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Administration, Business or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • 8+ years broad based HR Generalist experience, including partnering with employees and leaders to drive business performance.  Experience in the Construction industry preferred. 
  • 5 years experience recruiting, with experience recruiting for craft, niche roles preferred; outside-the-box, creative thinking absolutely necessary, with respect to recruiting efforts.  
  • Strong influence and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with our Company values. 
  • Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all divisions/departments and employees in a team-oriented environment.
  • Customer-service minded, and responsive.
  • Ability to travel to all locations, as necessary.    
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced, ever changing work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities within specified time constraints. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Ability to roll up your sleeves and take on any task to support the team, and the Company. 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform essential functions of the position.
  • Travel up to 20% of the time
  • Sitting up to 75 % of the time
  • Stooping and bending 5% of the time
